Alexandra Macia Final Project

At the University of Maryland, studying and homework can easily take up the time of students on campus. In my final project I look at what a students life looks like during the day when their not busy doing school work.

Deshawn Perr, a student at the University of Maryland, likes to spend his time in between classes skateboarding.

He showed off with a trick that he has been practicing for a while.

His positioning of his hands here helps him to balance on the board before jumping into the air.

Daniela Morgan, a communications major, eats at South Campus Dining Hall in her spare time before an advising meeting. The reality for most students on campus is due to their busy schedules whenever they have free time, they eat.

Ted Sauerland, takes time out of his day to hand out reusable straws on campus. His incentive is to help decrease the use of plastic straws amongst students.

Coral Hauser and Cornelia spend their day running a table at the Stress Less Fair on Mckeldin Mall. Their table sits beside many others handing out different goodies to help promote relaxation amongst students. Their table in particular is handing out condoms and lube.

At the Stress Less Fair at the University of Maryland, students pet dogs in between their classes.
Aahna Gosh a government and politics major pets a dog named Sammy, while juggling her coffee, in the morning. She said this experience made her happy at the start of her day.

Ally Ruocco and Erin Nolan enjoy the weather at the University of Maryland on Mckeldin Mall. Their sitting under tents previously set up for Maryland Day.

Two students, who wish to be unnamed, sit outside the dining hall trying to get students to sign the petition to keep the Co-op restaurant in STAMP. The university had been trying to close the popular healthy restaurant. The two students had almost 2,000 signatures thus far.

Ally Ruocco, a freshman, gets ready for her sorority formal later that night. Her desk is cluttered with nail polish and a straightening iron as she switches back and forth between her computer, and pampering herself.
Shylee Y. is a sophomore student at the university who spends her free time working the front desk of Queen Annes Hall, a dorm on South Campus.

Sam Bollonger, a sophomore at the University of Maryland also works the front desk at Queen Annes Hall. He is a favorite amongst students as he makes a point to greet each resident of the building as they walk through the door. Sam says he will sometimes spend any downtime on the job doing homework, but enjoys his position on desk duty.

Aahna Gosh spends her spare time on Wednesday mornings at the University of Maryland farmers market. The market occurs weekly and is a popular place for students to visit every Wednesday.

Aahna Gosh smiles as she holds her freshly brewed coffee from the market. She says the coffee makes her day every Wednesday.

Julia Jager and Ella Mitchel, both freshman public health majors, spend their time in between classes laying by the pool at Eppley Recreational Center.
Julia Jager smiles as the sun beems down on her. She tans in between her two labs for the day.

Sonja Neve (left), purchase a bread from the market, and Olivia Delaplaine (right) had purchased fresh vegetables. Both can be smiling with their fresh goodies from the market, as they take time away from school to rest.

Sonja Neve (left), a junior, Olivia Delaplaine (middle), senior government major, Luna Homsi (right), senior Anthropology major, take time out of their day to enjoy the farmers market on Wednesday. All three sat together at a table near the market spending time to talk to one another.

Julian Perez-Garcia, a sophomore in Writers House, at the University of Maryland spends his past time biking around campus. He keeps his bike outside his dorm, and can be seen chaining it up here so that it does not get stolen overnight.
