10 best photos - Jillian Atelsek
I love the lighting in this photo and the way it sets the mood. I also really like the girl's pose; she looks so carefree. There seems to be a nice counterbalance between the girl and the sun peeking over the building.
Again, I really like the light in this photo and how warm it is. The subject's face is also interesting, and he looks very content. I also like the contrast between the warmer left half of the photo and the more stark, industrial right half.
Every time I look at this photo, I think that the girl's face and pose resemble a renaissance painting. That, contrasted with her ostrich hat and the random pile of bananas next to her, is the main reason I like this one.
This was taken when I was intentionally focusing on playing with light in my photos, and though it's not the most interesting composition-wise, I really like the way the candlelight illuminates her face. I also enjoy how she's blowing out the candle, but the flames haven't been extinguished yet; it makes the picture feel like it captured a very tiny moment in time.
I love the warm lighting in this photo, and the ominous shadow behind my friend. His shadow and the Spiderman on the poster form a nice triangle, and his red shirt plays nicely with the colors.
I'm happy with the angle I shot this picture at, and how you can see the title of the budget in the center of the photo. I also really like the position of the subject's hands. She's typing with one and reaching for a mouse in the other, which makes the photo feel pretty dynamic.
I love the composition of this photo. I like the subject's position and how laid back he looks, and there are so many other interesting things in the frame for the viewer to look at without being overwhelmed.
In terms of "playing with light," this is probably the best shot I got all semester. I love how my dog is illuminated by the sunset, while the rest of the photo is mostly in darkness, and the warm feeling that the light gives. Her eyes also make the picture interesting.
This might be my favorite picture I took all semester. I love the composition, the way you can just see my dad through the door, how he looks like he's surveying the yard, and the way the light is falling on the house. It somehow perfectly captures the spirit and energy of my home.
I really like the repetition of the red in this photo, in Ben's shorts, the writing on the wall and the lamp next to them. I also enjoy how Ben looks pretty focused, while Anastasia is laughing. And I like the angle it was shot at: from about hip level, rather than from standing up and looking down at them.
