Sophomores Brittany Shapiro, a biology and molecular genetics major, canvasses with Catherine Scott, a journalism and public policy double major outside of McKeldin Library for the YOU ticket. Scott is running to represent journalism students and Shapiro is running to represent computer, mathematical, and natural science students in the legislative branch. Scott said she tries not to bother students who have their headphones in.

The YOU ticket emphasizes transparency and connection with fellow students. Presidential candidate Andrew String said he hopes to introduce golf cart rides to familiarize himself with the student body.

Brittany Shapiro holds a YOU flier outside of McKeldin Library about an hour after discovering that elections were moved from Wednesday to the following Monday.  For canvassers, this means more standing, chatting and flier-passing.

The Empower Maryland ticket is the largest ticket in the elections, with more than 30 candidates. Presidential candidate Ireland Lesley said that 70% of students have never been on SGA and 97% have never been in an elected SGA position.
