Week 9- Christina Armeni

Handmade Jewelry for Students

Katie Cote started her Maryland jewelry shop, While Waiting, a few years ago. Making jewelry gave her something to do while she was waiting for her daughter to be done with school, waiting for dinner to be ready, and more. Now she has expanded her business and sells her pieces online. All of her jewelry is handmade by her. Most of the beads are made with recycled material by women in Haiti. Cote sells her jewelry every Wednesday at the University of Maryland farmers market.

Even though her pieces are handmade, Cote makes sure the
accessories she sells are affordable so everyone can enjoy them.

In addition to her online shop, Cote sets up her stand at festivals and markets in
Maryland, Virginia and D.C.
Stephen Cha, a sophomore mechanical engineering student,
buys a pair of earrings for a friend.
