Week 10 - Colleen Neely

Students laugh while throwing colored powders at one another. While Holi was celebrated in India in late March this year, the Hindu Students Council organized this event for April 14 on McKeldin Mall.
According to legend in India, Holi celebrates the triumph of good over evil. As such, the holiday is a joyous celebrating full of color and unity.

As is tradition when celebrating Holi, students threw colored powder on one another. During Holi, castes, age, gender, status, and grudges are disregarded as society comes together.

The colors of Holi are meant to celebrate springtime and welcome the season. Colors are thrown out over the crowd in keeping with that celebration.
