Jillian Atelsek Week 9

Students Helping Honduras, a student club at the University of Maryland, held its annual "thrift shop" in Stamp Student Union on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. All proceeds went toward helping to build schools in Honduras.

Natalia Ledeboer-Cid, a junior government and politics major and the president of SHH, said with a laugh that the club is "all she does" with her free time. The thrift store took about two months to plan and put together, she added.

Abby Rosler examines a tank top at the thrift shop. She said she came to the event not only out of her love for secondhand shopping, but also because she knew the proceeds would support a good cause.

Teni Faleti looks at the dresses available at the shop. All the clothes that did not sell were donated to Value Village, a local thrift store, which pays SHH per pound for their items.

SHH collected donations for the thrift shop using social media to reach out to friends, neighbors and colleagues.
