Week 5 Colleen Neely
Nancy Held and Carl Neely at Oregon Ridge Nature Center's annual Pancake Breakfast. The fundraiser for the nature center is one of the only all year where all the proceeds go directly to the nature center to fund programs.
Held and Neely eat their pancakes, which are made by volunteers of the nature center. The pancake breakfast is extremely popular in the community and will serve about 300 people during one day of the two day fundraiser.
Anania and Kadow discuss the benefits of an Oregon Ridge membership. Some advantages include special access to programs and lectures hosted by the nature center.
Nan Neely, an Oregon Ridge volunteer makes pancake batter in the kitchen. The batter is then handed off to an assembly line of volunteers at griddles to make and serve pancakes to guests as they come in.
Neely has been a volunteer at Oregon Ridge for several years and always enjoys making pancake batter.
The batter has to be at a certain consistency when it is first made because it will sit for a few minutes before being cooked and volunteers have discovered that batter thickens heavily over time.
Her years of practice at making pancake batter for this fundraiser has given Neely an efficient and effective pancake batter making system.
