In the Catholic Church, Easter is the most important day of the year. The day celebrates the rise of Jesus Christ to life after enduring crucifixion on Good Friday to pay for the sins of humanity. Many parishes undergo days of preparation for this event. At the Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier (CCSFX) in Hunt Valley, MD, volunteers spend days preparing the church for the Easter Sunday Masses. The baptismal font at the front of the church is adorned with flowers to remind Catholics of the washing away of sins that also occurs at baptism. In the Catholic Church, parents choose baptism for their children and it is a sacrament typically performed during infancy. As is proclaimed by the banner, Jesus Christ rises on Easter Sunday. This event is considered proof that God will triumph over Satan, that good will always overcome evil.
